Black History Month 2012

Hey Y'all:

Black History Month or African American History Month is upon us again and this year we get an extra day!
A whopping 29 days to focus on the contributions of African American's to our culture.

My facebook friends always seem to prompt me into action and I was excited to read the below which has given me direction for this years celebration.

Every year there's a different theme for February's celebration of African American History Month, also called Black History Month for short. What's this year's theme? And who sets the theme agenda?

Answer: The 2012 theme for African American History Month, celebrated in February, is "Black Women in American: Culture and History."

This conveniently combines February's celebration of Black History Month with March's celebration of Women's History Month.

The theme is announced annually by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH)in Washington DC, which also offers "theme kits" for every African American History year.

Over the next two months I will focus on Black Women in Ministry and then Black Women Entrepreneurs. I'll share their stories of struggle and success. This should be fun.

Until next time...
MUAH!
